BOARD & TRAIN
Limited Availability to Select Established Clients
Our Selective Puppy Board & Train program is designed for families who want their puppy started with clarity, structure, and thoughtful guidance from the very beginning. Unlike traditional board and train programs, this offering is intentionally limited and trainer-led, allowing puppies to live, learn, and develop in a structured, home-based environment.
This program focuses on foundational skills, emotional development, and real-world readiness—setting puppies up for long-term success before bad habits have a chance to form.
What makes this program selective?
This is not a volume-based board and train program. Enrollment is intentionally limited to ensure each puppy receives individualized attention, consistent routines, and hands-on training in a structured environment.
Participation requires a completed application and a minimum of three private lessons prior to acceptance. These lessons allow us to assess the puppy’s temperament, learning style, and overall readiness, while also ensuring owners are actively engaged in the training process. Demonstrating follow-through and consistency during private lessons is essential, as long-term success depends on the ability to maintain structure once the puppy returns home.
Eligibility for the program is determined by evaluating whether a board and train is truly in the puppy’s best interest. If health concerns, developmental factors, or other considerations indicate that this program would not be appropriate—or if a strong transition home cannot be reasonably supported—the puppy will not be accepted. This selective approach protects both the puppy’s well-being and the integrity of the training process.
Puppies live in a structured environment that emphasizes calm behavior, confidence, and appropriate boundaries. This approach allows us to tailor training to the puppy’s developmental stage, temperament, and learning style.
What Puppies Learn During Board & Train
Training focuses on age-appropriate foundation skills rather than rushed obedience. Depending on the puppy’s age and development, this may include:
• Crate training and household routines
• Calm engagement and focus
• Leash introduction and handling
• Basic obedience foundations
• Confidence building and neutrality
• Impulse control and settling skills
The goal is not perfection—it is creating habits and structure that carry over into the puppy’s home.

This is not a high-volume or one-size-fits-all program. Enrollment is intentionally limited to ensure each puppy receives individualized care, consistent routines, and hands-on training. Acceptance is based on an application, required private lessons, and an evaluation of whether a board & train is truly in the puppy’s best interest and likely to result in long-term success at home.
-
A minimum of three private lessons is required before a puppy is considered for the Board & Train program. These lessons allow us to:
Evaluate temperament, learning ability, and readiness
Establish foundational skills and routines
Ensure owners are actively engaged and consistent
Board & Train success depends heavily on follow-through once the puppy returns home. These lessons help determine whether a smooth transition is realistic.
-
No. Private lessons are part of the evaluation process, not a guarantee of acceptance. Eligibility is determined based on the puppy’s needs, health, developmental stage, and the likelihood of long-term success after returning home.
-
If we determine that a Board & Train is not the best option due to health concerns, developmental factors, or other considerations, we will recommend an alternative training path. Our goal is always to act in the puppy’s best interest and provide guidance that supports long-term success—not to place a puppy into a program that isn’t appropriate.
-
Training focuses on age-appropriate foundation skills, not rushed obedience. This may include:
Crate training and household routines
Calm engagement and focus
Leash introduction and handling
Basic obedience foundations
Confidence building and neutrality
Impulse control and settling skills
The emphasis is on structure, habits, and emotional development rather than perfection.
-
Puppies live and train in a structured, home-based environment, not a kennel facility. Training occurs in real-life settings that support learning calm behavior, routine, and adaptability.
-
Program length varies based on the puppy’s age, development, and training goals. Specific timelines are discussed during the evaluation and application process.
-
Board & Train is a starting point, not a finish line. Puppies leave with improved structure, skills, and habits, but continued consistency at home is essential. Ongoing support and follow-up training are strongly encouraged to maintain progress.
-
Families receive guidance on:
Maintaining routines and structure
Reinforcing learned behaviors
Transitioning the puppy back into the home
Private lessons or remote coaching are available to support long-term success.
-
No. Board & Train is best suited for puppies who benefit from a structured environment and whose owners are committed to continuing the training at home. It is not intended as a shortcut or replacement for owner involvement.
-
The first step is to contact us to discuss your puppy and schedule private lessons. From there, we’ll guide you through the application and evaluation process.
-
Each day, your puppy follows a carefully structured routine that includes scheduled potty breaks, enrichment, training, socialization, and crate rest. This routine is repeated throughout the day, with the duration of each activity tailored to your puppy’s age, attention span, and energy level.
Training is typically divided into short, focused sessions totaling approximately 45 minutes per day, broken into 10–15 minute increments. This approach allows puppies time to rest, process, and retain what they’ve learned, creating the most efficient learning environment and supporting consistent, long-term progress.
-
Yes, we understand that you miss your puppy! Depending on the length of stay, you will be allotted a certain number of optional scheduled visits/training sessions. 1 session for 3 weeks of board & train, 2 for 6 weeks, and 3 for 12.
-
We will update you regularly with notes on training and photos or videos of your dog. This typically will happen every few days.
